So, I am at the very end of Metroid Prime 1 again. 79% completion. I managed to kill Meta Ridley in one go -- my first playthrough I almost got through it till he started ramming. It's not the constant laser barrage, missile barrages, fly-bys. No. It's ramming that will outright kill you. I mean, I had about 12-13 tanks or whatever. By the time it was over, I had about 4 left. I don't suck or anything, Ridley is just cheap with the ramming attacks.
Luckily, after you defeat him and enter the Impact Crater, there's an immediate save point and energy... restoration doohickey. But then, you go into this hall full of red Phazon, the one kind you're not immune to, and into the next... Fusion Metroids. I totallyhate HATE abhor them. In fact, I just don't even bother with them, I just run like hell to the missile room, and so forth till I hit the boss room. Maybe throw a powerbomb in the way.
Now, I totally wasted missiles and health on the first form of Prime. So much in fact, I almost quit because I didn't think that I wouldn't survive for much longer. I had a single tank and about 33 missiles left. Final battle began... and Prime started busting shit up and lo and behold, I got 2 tanks back. For the most part, I did a lot better. Getting to the Phazon pool. Here's went wrong though. At the last second, I thought that I destroyed some of the mature Metroids and I tried shooting Prime... well. I think I was one shot away, and then I died.
You don't know how close I came to screaming.
I mean, if I had one more shot or one more tank for that matter... I wouldn't been staring at the game over screen in horror...
