Smallville 9.07 "Kandor"

  • Nov. 6th, 2009 at 9:26 PM
I've tried to let it roll off my back and just enjoy the show. The fact that I've kept watching I guess shows that I haven't minded that much or enough to stop watching, but I'm really getting tired of the hypocracy from the show's producers about what has to take place in Smallville and what can't happen in Smallville because they have to tie it into the Superman Mythos. Especially since they're part of a creative corporation that uses multiple interpretations/universes yet they try to have this hardline with this show (despite the differences with Pete, Lana, Chloe, the Kents, Lois, Lionel Luthor, Jimmy) and now they don't even do a good job of following their own show's continuity. I'll still watch but it's getting frustrating.

We cannot doom another planet's future to preserve our past. )

November News

  • Nov. 5th, 2009 at 4:11 PM
It's November! Wow, where did the time go?  Halloween came and went, Veteran's Day is next week with Thanksgiving just around the corner and Christmas down the next block.  I know 2009 hasn't been the best year for most, and it's been tight here as well, but this might be the fastest year that's gone by in awhile for me.  Maybe it's just age, the older you get the quicker the sands of the hourglass seem to slip through your fingers.

As usual with a new month, here's last month's desktop. It's from Eureka 7 and I just liked the pink hue it gave my screen.  I really need to see that series someday. With myself starting to catch up on all these tv shows, I might start trying to make a dent in my anime collection.  It's frightening to think about. lol.

Also I hope to have an icon post this weekend, I hadn't had much time to do icons but i started back up this week and should have a decent sized batch this time around. :)

And since it's November, NaNoWriMo is going on and as usual I'm not technically participating - mostly because I haven't had the time to write fic and until this month I'd been struggling creatively. However I'm trying to take the NaNo mood to heart and will try to write as much as I can with whatever I do this month including the short story I've been working on for my creative writing class, along with a one act play and a few papers I have to write this month.  I wish I could use a stats bar to keep track anyway, I always like seeing that in other people's NaNo update posts.  As a result I've written about 4000 words this week, including 1600 this afternoon in an hour and a half. I think I've pushed past that block I've had as I've written more this week then anytime in the last 4 months and I'm feeling really good about that side of me.  Expect some fic next week if things continue like this, and I should have my short story to post by Wednesday.

Fic: Paint the Silence

  • Nov. 6th, 2009 at 10:54 AM
I published this fic on Fanfiction.net a while back, and have not received all that much feedback despite the overwhelming hits it receives daily. I would really, really appreciate some honest feedback from fellow Bebop fans! This is a story that means a good deal to me, and I put a good deal of myself into it.

Title: Paint the Silence

Rating: K+

Summary: Spike is gone. Jet and Faye still feel his presence. A story of three people - one dead, two alive - told in three movements.

Setting: Post-series.

Disclaimer: Cowboy Bebop belongs to Shinichiro Watanabe. Also, the title of this story is taken from a song by the band South. I titled it thus because I think that the lyrics of the song so perfectly describe Faye's feelings regarding Spike's departure and death, and as I continued to run over title options in my head I kept coming back to that one - Paint the Silence.

She is pristine and removed, like a porcelain doll set apart on a shelf where no grime and dust can reach her.
